Dan Archer is a journalist – specifically, a graphic journalist – which means he uses comic strips in his reports. BBC News Magazine ran a recent story to report on human trafficking in Nepal telling the story of Laxmi, a young girl sold at the age of 14. But by using illustrations through comics, Dan has found that he is able to put “human faces to the survivors while protecting their identities, instead of over-used images of blurry night vision cameras or, worse still, bodies with the faces blurred out.”

Says Dan, “As a journalist, my goal is to keep my drawings as accurate as possible.” And he does this through extensive research, including drawing pictures during interviews. Read Laxmi’s story from Nepal.
