State of the World's Children 2012

Each year, UNICEF’s flagship publication, The State of the World’s Children, closely examines a key issue affecting children. In 2012, The State of the World’s Children 2012: Children in an Urban World recognizes that more than half the world’s 7 billion people live in urban areas. This report examines the situation of children growing up in urban settings and, according to UNICEF, “finds that denials of children’s rights to survival, health, nutrition, education and protection are widespread. It sheds light on the scale of these urban inequities and suggests ways to ensure that urban childhoods are safe, healthy, participatory and fulfilling.”
