Shining a light on gender-based violence in Horn of Africa

Caroline Nalianya-Okumu, World Vision’s child rights coordinator in Kenya, was recently quoted in Halogen:

“Child protection requires the support of ‘a village’ not just a few people to adequately protect so many vulnerable children, and right now, there simply aren’t enough staff to help carry this responsibility. The refugee camps are still very crowded, and more families continue to arrive, making a difficult situation even worse. In addition, outside threats to the safety of the families living in the camp have made it very difficult for agencies like World Vision to operate there safely.”
