“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV)

I love the mixed metaphor of this passage. We are to walk, rooted in Christ. Essentially, the apostle Paul is calling us to be walking trees. How is this possible?

The tree image captures our rootedness in God’s grace, and the way we grow, thrive, bloom, and bear fruit in relation to the One who gives us life. Yet we also walk, with all the ethical and sanctifying associations we see in Scripture: on the right path, in newness of life.

Are you walking, yet rooted in Christ today?

Share a prayer with us today as we seek to be walking trees. We are blessed to pray with you!
