Joining in Prayer: April 16
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 8:38–39
What does ‘being well’ mean to children? World Vision staff listened to over 600 children from different contexts to understand their perspectives on well-being. Their most common response was access to basic needs including food, shelter and sleep. Their second most common response was to feel loved and have good relationships with parents, siblings and others around them. We expected the first response, but the second was a pleasant surprise. Children do care about and work towards being loved, being connected and being in meaningful relationships; experiencing togetherness and not separation, a desire to belong.
The passage from Romans 8 declares that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing can separate children from the love of God. No wonder children instinctively yearn for relationships and connectedness. May our actions point them to the one true source of unconditional love and perfect relationships: Jesus Christ. May we inspire the children in our lives to be encouraged to explore, discover and encounter God because we did not stand in their way.
Let us pray that our hearts are open to extend love and that our actions be such that we welcome the children in our life. May our attitude reflect the love of our God. Today, let’s ask ourselves if our attitude shows the kind of love that attracts others to God’s love for them?[symple_box color=”green” text_align=”left” width=”100%” float=”none”]Part of being a woman of vision means regularly joining in prayer together.
