Beauty From Ashes: A WOV Lenten Journey

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion–to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

~Isaiah 61:1-3

The prophetic words of Isaiah give us the hopeful message that in spite of our broken human condition our lives can be made whole. But, our vision so often focuses on the ashes, the shattered dreams and broken relationships. Are we willing to journey through those hard places and embrace the mystery of God’s sovereignty? Is it really possible that brokenness can be re-formed into something more beautiful?

This Lenten season Women of Vision will share their personal reflections on this blog. We invite you to create the space in your schedule to reflect on their stories and consider how God may be transforming your own journey and reforming your ashes into a crown of beauty.

My prayer during this Lenten season is that God cleanses my soul and fills me with his compassion for the poor and brokenhearted of this world. May I share the good news with them and be a voice and advocate for those that are oppressed by unimaginable situations. As I set aside time to reflect on these blog posts and delight in the things that the Lord finds important, may His desires and my desires be aligned with purpose and passion.

  2. May the eyes of my heart continue to be opened to the Hope that is unseen as we travel on this journey.

My pray is to let God direct me to empower this chilodren and women that are trafficked. My passion is to start an organization, to tell these children/women how GOD has transformed me from ashes to beauty. I was molested and grew up in a dysfuntional alcoholic family, didn;t go to high scholl, and did drugs.
God has relieved me of my addictions I have forgiven my brother and God has put on my heart to help other women. God is amzing and he can do allv things-
We can do all things thru Christ who strengthens us!
