Angela – off to Honduras!

Today we are excited to hear from Angela Mason, as she is leading a trip to Honduras this week with the Columbia-Willamette chapter.

After a long journey from Mexico (I was there on vacation over Thanksgiving!), I have just arrived in Tegucigulpa, the capital city of Honduras. However, my luggage was “lost!” Apparently, it was either in Mexico City or El Salvador!

Dana, from World Vision Honduras

I started praying and remembered that there are many more important things in life than clothes and toiletries. Besides, I always carry extra stuff in my hand luggage!

Dana, the lovely World Vision staff person was at the airport waiting patiently for me. She has the best smile and I was so happy to see her wearing her World Vision vest.

I am spending my first night at the Marriott awaiting the ladies from WOV Columbia-Willamette who arrive on Monday. This will be their first trip to Honduras, though they have been supporting FUNED and microfinance projects here for several years.

It looks like it will rain. The view from my 8th floor window is spectacular, but I can also see some of the local restaurants – McDonalds, Chili’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins!! No kidding!! There’s a wedding reception at the hotel, so the band is playing and the hotel is full of folks in their best dresses and suits.

I realise I look quite shabby and disheveled… wish I had my luggage after all…
