A Generation of HIV Grows Up

Fifteen years ago Kathleen Treat began supporting a kid’s club in Romania for children who were infected with HIV through World Vision. Aimed at providing a safe place for the kids to socialize, the program allowed them to do crafts together and have outings to the Black Sea or the mountains.

After visiting Romania multiple times, Treat began to realize that these kids were growing up. They were aware of their disease and were becoming advocates and activists. Her passion led to the making of “After the Fall: HIV Grows Up“, a challenging documentary which tells the story of some of these survivors.

Now Kathleen Treat is putting her enthusiasm toward another cause: Strong Women, Strong World, World Vision’s initiative supporting sustainable change in some of the most difficult places in the world to be a girl or a woman.
